"The Service and Setting are superb"

What struck us throughout our two night stay was absolutely delightful service from a true team providing exceptional hospitality. Nothing was too much trouble and the friendly, pleasant staff made this a very welcoming stay. The rooms are beautifully presented in keeping with the style of the hotel. Slightly baffled by the tailor's mannekin in the bathroom but at least it was a talking point! Breakfast was very pleasant indeed and again lovely service. The ambience and atmosphere here is very relaxing with a well-presented dining room. It was also wonderful to see the manager/owner (?) defend a member of staff from a most unreasonable onslaught from some ghastly guests - so many places put up meaningless drivel about supporting staff, so it was good to see high standards exercised in supporting the team.

"Overnight stay for Glyndebourne visit"

A lovely place to stay in this interesting village very near Glyndebourne. The bedroom was comfortable and the bathroom very swish indeed. Breakfast was very good and the staff were more than welcoming.

"Birthday Lunch"

My friends and I had a truly delicious meal, yesterday, to celebrate a birthday. There were eight of us having a broad choice of lunch from smoked salmon to pea/mint/rocket soup. My minute steak was cooked to perfection and I could have eaten it twice over. Friends had breaded chicken leg, a very large fish cake with cheese sauce filling and topped with a just right poached egg. A very memorable meal. I didn't have any dessert but everyone else tucked into a pavlova filled with strawberries/cream and rosewater coulis. I think I'll need to have my celebration there.

"Delightful surroundings."

We have eaten here a number of times in recent years and have never been disappointed. The old house with its verandas is a welcoming place, with lovely gardens. Inside are comfortable lounges to sit and have pre dinner drinks, make your menu choices, and then return to for coffee and after dinner drinks! The service is always charming, the selection of wines and spirits includes many local producers and the ingredients for the delicious menu are all locally sourced and the provenance given alongside each dish listed on the menu. The dining room and terrace are comfortable, spacious and nicely decorated adding to the overall feeling of a quality experience. There is also a private dining room available which looks elegant and enticing for an extra special occasion. The prices are good value, reflecting the quality of the ingredients, cooking and surroundings. Understated unpretentious quality. Lovely.

"Afternoon Tea"

My partner and I took her Mother for Afternoon Tea at the Wingrove because we had had such a good experience there on Valentines Day. We weren't disappointed! Everything was perfect, and apparently on a par with Afternoon Tea at the "Berkeley". Fantastic place! Highly recommended

"Excellent New Year's Day meal"

Lovely d├ęcor, and excellent meal. We arrived on a dismal and grey New Year's day to stay overnight. Lovely atmosphere in a full restaurant. There was nothing going on in the hotel for the evening, very quiet, but the staff looked after us very well and left us a cheese board and tea/coffee to take us through the evening. Lovely lounge area, quality furnishings, newspapers, log fire. It really would be nice to have just a small selection of books/board games to choose from - plenty of space in bookcase in lounge, especially when it is so quiet!
